My Story
I never imagined that one day my own body would become the battlefield I would have to fight every single day.
I served 16 years in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant. I was strong, disciplined, mission-focused, and dedicated to taking care of everyone around me. But behind the uniform, my body was quietly breaking down.
In 2016, I was diagnosed with lupus.
Like many warriors living with autoimmune disease, I spent years feeling exhausted, sick, misunderstood, and frustrated before finally getting answers. Lupus didn’t just affect my health — it affected every part of my life. There were days I could barely get out of bed. Days filled with pain, inflammation, fear, and uncertainty. Days when people looked at me and assumed I was “fine” because they couldn’t see the battle happening inside my body.
But lupus underestimated me.
I refused to allow my diagnosis to become my identity. Instead, I made a decision: I was going to learn everything I could about my disease, advocate for myself, and help others do the same.
That decision changed my life.
After retiring from the Army, I dedicated myself to education, healing, and advocacy. I earned my Master’s degree in Health & Wellness and continued my studies in herbalism and holistic health because I knew warriors like myself needed more than just awareness — we needed support, education, community, and hope.
That is why I created My Body Is My Battlefield.
This organization was born from pain, but built with purpose.

Founder of My Body Is My Battlefield
Our mission is to raise awareness for lupus and autoimmune diseases while creating a safe space for warriors, families, caregivers, veterans, and supporters. We focus on education, holistic wellness, advocacy, community outreach, and empowering people to take control of their health journey.
I know what it feels like to suffer silently.
I know what it feels like to smile through pain.
I know what it feels like to fight battles nobody else can see.
But I also know what resilience looks like.
I know what faith looks like.
I know what healing, purpose, and community can do.
Today, I use my voice to remind others that although our bodies may be the battlefield… our spirit is still the warrior.
You are not alone in this fight.
And as long as I have breath in my body, I will continue fighting for awareness, education, support, and the warriors who need someone to understand their journey.
Welcome to the battlefield.
Welcome to the family.
